Hailing from a noble family of Danish origin, Guglielmo Ulrich (1904-1977) was the founder of Arca (Arredamento Casa), a company dedicated to producing furniture designed by Ulrich and created with high quality craftsmanship using precious and exotic materials. Following a period designing for Scaglia, Ulrich took part in a number of competitions and triennali, and furnished many shops and offices in various Italian towns. In the 1960s the designer progressed towards the industrial
world and leaped from product design to architecture. Maintaining the same outlook and design sensibilities despite the momentous shift in scale, the architect, furniture designer and painter successfully widened his repertoire and his enduring designs continue to awe and inspire decades after they were produced.
