Following her departure from her fashion label Ann Demeulemeester in 2014, Belgian designer Ann Demeulemeester's focus shifted toward the creation of plates, bowls, cups, dishes and vases, all inspired by her new environment outside the city and the study of old techniques for making porcelain and glaze mixing. Armed with a professional kiln, the designer began to share her ceramic designs with Serax with whom she embarked on a collaboration in 2018 to create a series of unique collections that encompass porcelain tableware, glass, and cutlery.
Defined by contrasts between fragility and power, and light and shade, Demeulemeester's designs evoke a familiarity from her earlier work are presented as poetry on the table — items that are equal parts sculpture and practical items.
