Created by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba of Palomba Serafini Associati for Bosnian brand Zanat, the design brief presented for the 'Piano' series was straightforward — a collection of simple, lightweight and multifunctional coffee and side tables. The end result, however, belies the easy brief, with the final series seamlessly bringing together expert craftsmanship, a skilled use of high quality materials and a distinct 'wow' factor. Featuring a number of cogwheel carving patterns around its edges, this small-sized 'Piano' table is reminiscent of piano keys when viewed from above — hence the name of the collection. Cut from black-stained maple wood and propped by hand-welded steel rods with a black powder coat finish, the table makes for a suitable companion to almost any seating in both residential and public settings. Alternatively, the table can be harmonised with other pieces from the same collection for a unexpected yet fully synchronised composition.
