Julian Schnabel’s first New York solo show in 1979 led to overnight success. Since, he has gone on to work in a wide variety of media from sculpture to filmmaking. Creating boldly from everyday or surprising materials, Schnabel’s creations have involved broken plates, kabuki theater backdrops, and boxing ring floors.
