A decade characterised by dramatic expressions of futurism alongside rustic eco-trends, the 1970s are explored by way of aesthetics in Taschen's 'Decorative Art 70s' a revival of 'Decorative Art, The Studio Yearbook', an annual publication dedicated to the latest currents in architecture that was published between 1906 and 1980. Edited by Charlotte and Peter Fiell, the 576-page book takes a close look at how the world of design and architecture became an increasingly exciting and fast-moving hotbed of ideas during the 1970s. This includes an examination of the widespread advocation for a return to natural methods and craft alongside a championing of industrial living and the resulting concrete, high-rise extremes. These are presented alongside work from some of the decade's most standout design stars including Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Luigi Colani, Achille Castiglioni, Kisho Kurokawa, Norman Foster, Richard Meier and Theo Crosby.
