'Avedon 100'

This impressive illustrated catalog celebrates a hundred years since the birth of iconic American fashion and portrait photographer Richard Avedon. In the spirit of a century, one hundred artists, designers, musicians, writers, curators and fashion figures were each asked to select an Avedon photograph through which to tell a story of how the image and artist influenced their lives. 'Avedon 100', authored by Derek Blasberg, is the outstanding and rare result of that collective celebration. Published by Rizzoli, the title portrays a diverse cross section of Avedon’s oeuvre, from his images of the social justice movement, through his legendary American West series, to classic portraiture and fashion photographs. The participants include Hilton Als, Naomi Campbell, Elton John, Spike Lee, Sally Mann, Polly Mellen, Kate Moss, Chloë Sevigny, Taryn Simon, Christy Turlington, and Jonas Wood.
