Hailing from Padua, Italy, Fulvio Bianconi (1915-1996) was an artist best known for his work with Murano glass. Starting his career in Milan, where he collaborated as a graphic designer and illustrator with the publishers Mondadori, and was also commissioned to paint a series of frescoes for the Galtrucco shops, Bianconi soon delved into the art of glassmaking following multiple
visits to Murano in 1946. Here, he met Paolo Venini, co-founder of the glass manufacturer Venini, who joined forces with the young designer who had already started to demonstrate an apt for moulding movement and colour into his glass pieces, and linking contemporary design with Murano tradition.
