A true polymath, American designer Virgil Abloh (1980-2021) wore many hats in his lifetime, earning global renown as an artist, architect, engineer, creative director, artistic director, industrial designer, fashion designer, musician, DJ and philanthropist. Born in Rockford, Illinois, Abloh was a trained architect and a graduate of both the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Illinois Institute of Technology,
yet found international acclaim as the Chief Creative Director and founder of Off-White and as Men’s Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton, where his aesthetic often incorporated principles of architecture into collections that merged streetwear and luxury in a wholly original fashion.
