Originally trained as a metal artisan, French designer Jean Prouvé opened his own furniture workshop in Nancy in 1924 before establishing his own factory in 1947. Best known for his combination of industrial production methods with groundbreaking aesthetic values, the architect and designer's portfolio was wide-ranging and spanned everything from lighting and furniture to
façade elements and prefabricated houses, modular building systems and large exhibition structures. A longstanding relationship between the Prouvé family and the Swiss brand Vitra has seen a steady stream of re-editions of the designer's creations released since 2002.
