A leading figure in the resurgence of the Made in Italy movement, Milan-born designer Alessandro Mendini (1931-2019) is regarded as a crucial force on the country's design and architecture landscape. In addition to a decade-long working relationship with Nizzoli Associati and the directorship of several magazines, including Domus, Mendini was renowned for his involvement
in projects such as including Alchimia — a centre of experimentation on the theme of decoration — his participation in theoretical debate and, of course, a design career that saw him collaborate with brands such as Zanotta, Alessi, Swatch, Philips, Venni, Bisazza and Cartier.
