NUDE: Simple Glassware at its Finest
NUDE is a modern glassware brand based in Istanbul that believes in uncomplicated beauty and straightforward function. Producing luxurious aesthetics in the form of glasses, jugs, bowls and much more, the idea of refined simplicity is at the heart of this Turkish brand.
Established in 2014 by the Şişecam Group, NUDE has had over 85 years of tradition and wisdom poured into it, making it the renowned and respected homeware designer that it is today. Focusing on high quality glassware for the modern home or living space, there has always been an artisanal approach to making its pieces, with first-rate expertise in blown and handmade pieces made from lead-free crystal glass.

Designer Focus
Inga Sempé
Born in Paris, Inga Sempé is a French designer who creates glassware, lamps, cutlery, rugs and much more. In an exclusive collaboration with NUDE, she designed the ‘Jour’ line which showcases elegant pieces with distinctive lines such as jugs, decanters and glasses.
Back in 1993 after graduating from the ENSCI-Les Ateliers in the French capital, Sempé went on to become a scholarship student in Villa Medici Académie de France in Rome before turning to her city to open her own studio in the year 2000.
Inga Sempé has collaborated with design-based brands from all over the world and has won many awards and gained international recognition for her work along the way, including an exposition in Paris’ Musée des Arts Décoratifs in 2003.

Sebastian Herkner
Product designer Sebastian Herkner was born in southwest Germany in Baden-Württemberg in 1981 and is now based in Offenbach where he designs and is also a visiting lecturer at HfG Offenbach, his former university. In his early years of studying, he developed his passion for designing objects and furniture with a talented eye for textures, materials and colours.
In 2006, Herkner founded his own studio and has proudly won many awards from all over the world, including the Elle Deco International Design Award (EDIDA) and the German Design Award for his Trilogie for Poschinger Glasmanufaktur. In 2019 this young designer won “Designer of the Year” in Paris after being elected by Maison&Objet.
Herkner has displayed his work in exhibitions in a list of different cities, including Shanghai, Milan, New York and Miami. He has also run many lectures, workshops and talks in countries all over the world.

Space Copenhagen
Founded by partners Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rützou in 2005, Space Copenhagen creates objects for everyday use including furniture, art installations and refined objects.
Both having graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, they went on to design interiors for some of the most influential restaurants and hotels in capital cities such as Copenhagen and London.
With an approach that focuses on functional needs and contrasts, which the founders themselves have named ‘Poetic Modernism’, the brand strives to create long-lasting, distinctive pieces which are made with the utmost quality and attention to detail.
Their skilled team of professional architects and designers and their talent for creating original designs with innovative twists has lead them to win many awards along their journey, while also partnering with some of the most renowned manufacturers in the business.

Tomas Kral
Tomas Kral is a Product Designer born in Slovakia in 1979 who graduated from the Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne. After receiving his Bachelor’s in industrial design in 2006, he obtained a Master’s in Product Design in 2008 and a MAS Diploma in Luxury Design in 2009..
Now running his own studio in Lausanne, Switzerland which he established in 2008, Kral has also been teaching ECAL in the Industrial Design department since 2010.
Kral works on creating lighting, furniture and home accessories with diligent attention paid to the processes he follows and the materials he uses, such as glass, ceramic and cork. Experimenting with craftsmanship, he takes everyday objects and seeks out contemporary designs, details and shapes to give his work an unrepeatable touch.
Tomas Kral’s work has been exhibitied in several museums including Libby Sellers Gallery, London, Gallery Kreo, Paris, Helmrinderknecht, Berlin, and the Museum of Design, Zürich.
He has worked with many international design companies and has won both awards and prizes for his innovative designs.

Formafantasma
Founded by Italian designers Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin, Formafantasma is a design studio based in Amsterdam. With a mutual interest and love for product design which they developed while studying on the IM Master Course at Design Academy Eindhoven, the duo has experimented with traditional and local culture and always keeps in mind the matter of sustainability.
However big or small one of their projects is, they pay the utmost attention to detail, process and context. Their work has been recognised internationally and published in museums such as London’s Victoria and Albert, the Chicago Art Institute, the TextielMuseum in Tilburg and the Mint Museum of Craft and Design in North Carolina.
Trimarchi and Farresin have worked in collaboration with brands such as Hermès, Flos and Fendi and have also lectured and headed workshops in various Institutions and Universities, sharing their profound understanding of design with students who wish to head down a similar road.

'Jour' wine decanter
Inspired by traditional French glassware, the ‘Jour’ wine decanter was designed by Inga Sempé for Nude and is made of fine lead-free crystal. Featuring beautifully cut lines and a circular stopper on top, it is a sophisticated container for keeping and serving your favourite wines.
'Ecrin' lidded vessel
This 'Ecrin' lidded vessel was created by German designer Sebastian Herkner for his ‘Ecrin’ collection with Turkish brand, NUDE. Proving both functional yet charming, it is a piece of glassware that can be used to store anything from jewellery to stones to little personal belongings. Its pebble-style lid comes in a serene petroleum green, the whole piece is a homage to the incredible craftsmanship of the Earth Pyramids of Ritten.
'Beak' water decanter
This ‘Beak’ water decanter is a piece from Tomas Kral’s collection for NUDE, a glassware series featuring designs with spouts and distinctive silhouettes that depict the shape of birds. The long neck facilitates pouring and the clear glass adds to its elegance.
'Magnolia' vase
Mixing a clear bottom half with a white top half, this cylindrical ‘Magnolia’ vase is an original and interesting piece that showcases the love of craftsmanship that the brand has. Created with the hand-blown process and made of lead-free crystal, it proves a fashionable yet modest take to the everyday vase.
